Mick Antoniw

Mick has served the people of Pontypridd and Taff Ely as their Assembly Member since 2011, having been re-elected in 2016.

Before being elected as an AM in 2011 Mick was a partner at Trade Union solicitors Thompsons, specialising in spinal and head injuries and corporate manslaughter. Mick is a visiting fellow of the University of South Wales  and has lectured widely across Wales, the UK and internationally in the field of health and safety,corporate accountability and law reform.

During the fourth Assembly (2011 – 2016) Mick sat on the Assembly’s Health, Enterprise and Business and Environment and Sustainability Committees, and was Chair of the Standards of Conduct Committee.

From 2012 – 2015 Mick represented Wales on the European Union Committee of the Regions where he was also appointed to its EU task force on Ukraine.

In June 2016 Mick was appointed Counsel General for Wales. As the Welsh Government’s Law Officer, he is the Welsh Government’s chief legal advisor and represents it in the courts.
