Daniel is the General Editor of Westlaw UK's Annotated Statutes and Insight.

For 22 years Daniel was a public service lawyer, serving in the Lord Chancellor's Department from 1988-1991 and as Parliamentary Counsel from 1991-2010. He wrote Acts in almost every area of law including tax, environment, constitutional law, crime, family and regulatory law, and advised on machinery of government, parliamentary procedure and human rights.

Presently Daniel is consultant Parliamentary Counsel with Berwin Leighton Paisner LLP and an adviser to the Joint Committee on Statutory Instruments; he is also the Editor of Craies on Legislation, Stroud's Judicial Dictionary, Jowitt's Dictionary of English Law and the Statute Law Review, and published Laying Down the Law in 2011. He has an international legislative drafting and advisory practice and is a teaching fellow of the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, University of London and Visiting Professor of Legislation in the University of Derby.
