National Assembly for Wales (Remuneration) Measure 2010

The National Assembly for Wales (Remuneration) Measure 2010 (the Measure) establishes the Independent Remuneration Board of the Senedd and sets out its functions and remit. 

The Independent Remuneration Board of the Senedd is responsible for determining the pay and allowances of Senedd Members and ensuring they have the right resources to do their jobs properly.

Coming into force:

Various sections of the Measure came into force on 22 July 2017, which is the day after it was approved by Her Majesty in Council, in accordance with section 20(2). The remaining provisions came into force on the day after notice was laid under subsection (4), in accordance with section 20(3).

Consideration of the legislation by the Senedd: 

The proposed Measure was introduced by The Rt. Hon. Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas, who was the Presiding Officer at the time, on 9 November 2009. It was passed by Senedd Cymru (known then as the National Assembly for Wales) on 26 May 2010.

More information about the Measure is available on the Senedd’s website, including a record of the passage of the proposed Measure and the Explanatory Memorandum that was prepared by the Assembly Commission, as it was then known, on introduction of the proposed Measure.

The Measure received Royal Approval on 21 July 2010.
