NHS Redress (Wales) Measure 2008
The NHS Redress (Wales) Measure 2008 (‘the Measure’) was the first Measure passed by the (then) National Assembly for Wales.
The Measure gives the Welsh Ministers powers to create the processes to be followed by NHS bodies in Wales when dealing with situations where, following initial investigation, it is determined there may be negligence but where the resulting compensation is likely to be of relatively low value. This is to give patients the ability to secure redress without recourse to formal legal proceedings in the courts.
The Explanatory Notes to the Measure provide detailed commentary on the various provisions.

Section 14 came into force on 9 July 2008, which is the day the Measure received Royal Approval.
