Regulation of Registered Social Landlords (Wales) Act 2018
The Regulation of Registered Social Landlords (Wales) Act 2018 (the Act) amends existing legislation, particularly the Housing Act 1996, to remove the elements of central and local government control which led to the decision by the Office for National Statistics to classify registered social landlords as Public Non-financial Corporations. This allows for the reclassification back to Private Non-financial Corporations.
The Explanatory Notes to the Act provide detailed commentary on the various provisions.
Coming into force:
Sections 19 and 20 came into force on 14 June 2018, which was the day after the Act received Royal Assent. Section 19(2) of the Act provides that the other provisions of the Act come into force when one or more orders are made by the Welsh Ministers. The following order brought the remaining provisions into force:
The Regulation of Registered Social Landlords (Wales) Act 2018 (Commencement and Transitional Provision) Order 2018
